Reps Conference 2017
“Living as Pilgrims: Journeying Together”
“Blessed are those whose strength is in you; who have set their heart of pilgrimage.” (Psalm 84:5)
The heart of this year’s conference explored journeying through life, not as a solitary wanderer, but as a community of believers. The idea of pilgrimage from Psalm 84:1-7 provided the content for the three main talks: Tim Forrester on “Yearning for God Together”; Eva Leaf on “The Pilgrimage”; and Phil Boydell on “Sustaining Stretching Hope.” These were interspersed with group discussions and testimonies that challenged us to look at our own personal journeys.
The conference was also a time of refreshment, with a chance to experience a “pilgrimage” on Saturday afternoon, and a time of encouragement as the Board shared their heart and care for the organization. It was also a time of learning from each other. With seminars and open spaces, there was the opportunity to listen to one another, to share our own experiences and encourage each other. But above all, it was a time of renewing our vision and heart to continue on in the task God has set before us. From the new reps who have just joined and across to those who are moving on, the vision of generational discipleship is deeply evident. Sandra, a retiring rep shared this: “The Navigator vision will always be a part of my life. I will always be involved with people, especially one-to-one.”
The Psalmist prayed, “Blessed are those whose strength is in you… they go from strength to strength.” (Psalm 84:4,7) May each of us find this same strength as we live and disciple among the lost, as we journey with them towards God.
