More about my work

We both found Jesus through the Navigators’ student work in Cardiff while at medical school in the late 1970s. Alongside medical training, Navigators helped us grow as believers, learn ministry skills and discover the privilege of helping others flourish and grow spiritually. We are passionate about relating well in different cultures, something which God used during language study in France and living and working in French-speaking Africa including in both medical and ministry settings before handing over to national leadership. In 2011, we returned and resettled in Cardiff though Phil initially continued travelling regularly in and out of West Africa.

For most of the last 10 years, we were part of UK National leadership sharing responsibility for leading and caring for Navigator folk in England & Wales. Over the past year we have stepped out of national leadership but continue to support and supervise a number of Navigator folk around the country. Phil also continues to help develop Second Half Living (a UK Navigator ministry to people aged 50+)

Since Navigator ministry is about people, we spend time building and maintaining relationships which necessitates online calls and visits in person both in the UK and beyond. Sadly, the security situation means we cannot yet travel back to West Africa, but we can look to visit folk closer to home in Europe.

Susan is also involved in counselling and Spiritual Direction.

We have been married for over 35 years, are based in Cardiff and have four adult sons and five grandchildren who keep us on our toes.
