You are central to God’s purposes in this world
God has uniquely placed you in your family, friendship groups, workplace, communities and local church for a reason.
No other person in this world is positioned where you are
God has called you and prepared you to make disciples. Isaiah 61 paints a beautiful picture… God meets us in our brokenness and makes our lives beautiful, so that we display his splendour. He then invites us to join him in restoring our broken world.
Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime?
The promise of Isaiah 61 is yours through Jesus (Luke 4:18-21). In the same way that God turns an acorn into a whole forest of oak trees, he can use your life invested deeply in one person to impact many generations.
You're already doing this.
Think of it this way: you are already involved in this. All relationships ‘form’ people through ideas, attitudes, attention… You are already influencing people all the time, whether for good or ill.
Disciple making (alongsiding) is simply a matter of being intentional about influencing people towards the very best reality this world has ever known: Jesus Christ.
What better idea is there? Forming people towards Jesus and helping them do the same with others.

First steps to get you started…
Draw out your relational network
Ask God to help you choose one relationship to focus on. Start to pray for that person regularly and see if there are ways to draw alongside them and get to know Jesus better together.
Ask God to give you a promise to pray into
The promises of God inspire faith in your alongsiding of others and they are ‘yes and amen’ in Jesus Christ (2 Cor 1:20). Ask God for a promise for your friend, something that you can pray every day for that person.
You could learn it by writing it on paper or on your phone and set a reminder to practice it. Keep an eye out for how Jesus is fulfilling this promise around you.
Invite a friend to join you in developing a habit of meeting with God every day

Look for community
Is there someone else who has a heart for getting alongside someone and seeing what God can do? You could invite them round for a watch party or on a prayer walk.
