For a large chunk of my life, I never really felt known. I had friends but I didn’t feel free to be fully myself around them. I also didn’t relate to God as if he knew me. All that changed when someone got alongside me at university.

Two simple things you can do 

Before anyone got alongside me and discipled me, I was a struggling Christian. I gave my life to Jesus when I was 11 but I didn’t really know what it looked like to live my life for him each day and I had no idea how to engage with the Bible. I attended church, youth group and summer camps that all pointed me to Jesus and got me hyped up, but I had no clue how to sustain that feeling or apply it to my daily life

Getting alongside ‘messy people’

Getting alongside people in complicated or chaotic situations can be really challenging. Maybe, like me, those circumstances make you want to run in the opposite direction, or you find yourself frustrated or feeling hopeless. Some of Jesus’ most memorable interactions in the Bible were with ‘messy people’.
